Aston Martin has unveiled a limited edition version of the Vantage, called the Vantage AMR. Produced in a limited run of just 300 units, the Vantage AMR commemorates the brand’s success in GT4, GT3 and GTE racing.
The AMR brand to Aston Martin is like the M division to BMW and the AMG brand to Mercedes-Benz. The brand was first announced at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, along with the Vantage AMR Pro. While the Vantage AMR Pro is track focussed sportscar with chassis revisions and an aero package, the Vantage AMR is effectively a special edition with minor changes.
Under the hood is a 430bhp V8 or a 595bhp V12 engine with either automatic or manual gearbox. It gets the option of special paint schemes – white and orange, black and blue, blue and red or silver and grey. There’s also an optional ‘Halo Pack’ with racing green paint and lime green accents, inspired by Aston Martin’s GTE race car.
The interior has been redesigned to give the car a sporty appeal. The trim is leather and Alcantara, while carbon fibre seats are available as optional extras. It also gets other carbon trims such as the front grille, mirror caps, door pulls and instrument surrounds. An aero kit saves 14 kilograms over the standard car, thanks to carbon front splitter, rear wing and a titanium exhaust system.
The Vantage AMR seems to be the last hurrah before the sportscar is phased out. Aston Martin will produce 200 V8 models and 100 V12 models. Prices
