BMW will take the wraps off its X7 crossover at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle that will be unveiled will be a concept car but we have seen enough test vehicles to know what the production model will look like when it comes to life in 2018.
The X7 will be the Bavarian automaker’s new flagship SUV and will be positioned above the X6. Given the odd number naming (according to our many spy shots) we can be certain that it will be a proper SUV and be built to take on the likes of the Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Audi Q8. Expect the standard BMW luxury and styling bits like the kidney grille, tail lamps, iDrive system and of course, vast amount of space to seat five or seven people in comfort.
It is expected to pick up engine and underpinnings from the X6 but is expected to get a higher degree of off-road capabilities to match its image as a proper SUV.
This is an India-bound vehicle and is expected to come here some months after it makes its global debut. Expect BMW to locally assemble the SUV at their Chennai plant and offer it across both petrol and diesel engine options
