FOUR of the five teenagers suspected in the horrific rape of an 18-year-old girl in a New York park were in police custody overnight, sources said.

Two boys, 14 and 15, were brought in to the 73rd Precinct station house in Brooklyn by their parents, and a third and fourth suspects were arrested shortly after, according to police sources.

The fifth suspect was reportedly still at large.

“We have been working closely with the NYPD to bring the violent sexual predators who committed this horrific gang rape to justice and will not stop until every one of them is held accountable,” said Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson.

The attackers allegedly took turns raping the girl in Osborn Playground in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn around 9pm Thursday (1am Friday, AEDT).

One had a gun and pointed it at the girl and her father, demanding he leave. He ran for help and eventually flagged down a police car, but the offenders had left the scene.

Over the weekend, furious Brooklyn politicians blasted the NYPD for waiting two days before making the rape public.

Borough President Eric Adams charged the public would have been immediately notified had the rape occurred in Manhattan’s Central Park instead of Osborn Playground in crime-ridden Brownsville.

“For community leaders and the community to find out about this horrific crime from the tabloids is not acceptable,” Adams said.

“The imperative to catch those people shouldn’t matter if the park is Osborn [Playground] or Central Park,” he said. “The same level of urgency must be followed.”

An NYPD rep said in a statement that police responded to the scene immediately and were quickly able to track down surveillance footage.

“Detectives in conducting an expanded canvass were able to find video in a [corner store],” the statement read. “After review, retrieval and copying, the video was distributed to the media around 8pm on Saturday (12am Sunday, AEDT) to help identity the five males.’’
